Paper for Flexible Foam

Kraft paper is an essential consumable in continuous slabstock foam manufacturing, serving as the substrate on which the reacting polyurethane mixture expands and cures. Its primary function is to provide a stable, uniform surface that supports foam rise while maintaining dimensional accuracy throughout the production line. High-quality kraft paper must exhibit consistent tensile strength, controlled porosity, and reliable heat and tear resistance to withstand mechanical stress, exothermic temperatures, and conveyor dynamics. Paper weight, fiber composition, and moisture content directly influence foam surface finish, block integrity, and downstream cutting performance. Using premium kraft paper reduces defects such as wrinkling, air entrapment, or surface irregularities, ensuring optimal block shape and minimizing material waste. In modern foam plants, selecting the appropriate kraft grade is critical for achieving consistent productivity and delivering high-quality polyurethane foam.
