Polyurethane Systems (MDI and TDI Based)
Polyurethane systems—whether based on MDI or TDI—are engineered to deliver highly specific performance characteristics across a wide range of foam applications. Each system is formulated with tailored polyols, additives, surfactants, and catalysts to achieve precise reactivity, density, airflow, and mechanical properties suited to its end use.
TDI-based systems remain the benchmark for producing super-soft foams with excellent comfort, low modulus, and high resilience. Their controlled cell structure enables exceptional plushness and uniform pressure distribution, making them ideal for bedding, furniture, and cushioning applications. TDI systems also support pneumatic viscoelastic foams, where slow recovery, enhanced airflow, and superior pressure management are required. These foams combine the contouring behavior of memory foam with improved breathability and comfort consistency.
MDI-based systems offer greater formulation versatility and are widely applied in both flexible and specialty foam technologies. MDI systems are preferred for high-performance molded foams, such as fast-recovery molded pillows, where durability, precise shape retention, and long-term comfort are essential. Their ability to form well-defined, breathable cell structures results in products with enhanced temperature stability and long service life. MDI is also the foundation for latex-like foams, which mimic the buoyant, responsive feel of natural latex while providing superior uniformity and processing control.
In insulation applications, MDI-based systems dominate due to their high functionality and ability to create rigid foams with exceptional thermal resistance, dimensional stability, and closed-cell content. These systems are used in construction panels, refrigeration, spray insulation, and other applications requiring high R-values and long-term structural performance.
Together, MDI- and TDI-based polyurethane systems enable manufacturers to produce specialized foams with precise physical properties, ensuring optimal performance across comfort, industrial, and insulation markets.
